Australia’s Next Top Model Host announces wrong winner

An Australian modelling competition came to an embarrassing end when its presenter crowned the wrong winner live on air.

‘Australia’s Next Top Model’ presenter Sarah Murdoch incorrectly named Kelsey Martinovich the winner of the sixth series of the reality show, after allegedly being passed on the wrong information.

Shortly after 19-year-old Martinovich started celebrating her supposed victory and thanking her loved ones for their support, she was shocked to find out what Murdoch then had to say.

Listening to her earpiece, the mortified host told her and the audience: “Oh my God… I don’t know what to say right now… I’m feeling a bit sick about this. No. I’m so sorry about this… Oh my God… I don’t know what to say. This is a complete accident, I’m so sorry. It’s Amanda… I’m so sorry. It was read to me wrong.

“Oh god. This is what happens when you have live TV, folks. I’m so sorry, this is insane.”

Despite finally losing to 18-year-old Amanda Ware in awkward circumstances, Martinovich managed to keep her calm and commented: “It’s an honest mistake, it’s fine”.

The unfortunate runner-up is to receive a $25,000 prize and a holiday to New York.
