Devisdale twitter rumour denied by Bowdon school
A TWITTER rumour alleging greenspace land in Bowdon was being built on has been refuted by Altrincham Girls’ Grammar School.
Last week, several tweets mentioned that the Devisdale – a Site of Biological Importance – was being sold to the school so they could build a large sports pitch next to their existing hockey pitch.
But a spokesperson for the Cavendish Road school denied the rumour and said there was nothing to report at this stage.
No planning applications have been submitted to Trafford Council.
Popular with dog walkers and environmentalists, the Devisdale is an area of open meadowland adjacent to Denzell House and Gardens, which is protected by the Friends of Denzell Gardens and the Devisdale.
John Lloyd, chairman of the Friends, said they had been ‘very concerned’ to hear the rumour.
“The Friends are contacting our fellow community organizations with a view to getting as much information as possible in order to protect this greenspace,” he said.
